Justice Ramday’s nephew found dead in Islamabad hotel.

ISLAMABAD: Farooque Raza, son of Chaudhry Farooque, former attorney general for Pakistan and nephew of Justice Khalil-ur-Rehman Ramday, was found dead in a room of Marriott Hotel here on Friday, police said.

Police high-ups reached the hotel upon receiving the information about the incident and shifted the body to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for an autopsy to ascertain the cause of death.

Earlier, Justice Khalil-ur-Rehman Ramday reached the hotel and allowed the police to conduct the autopsy.Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry also visited the hotel soon after he received the information about the tragedy and remained with Justice Ramday for about an hour.

Station House Officer (SHO) Secretariat Police Station Hakam Khan when contacted by this scribe said deceased Farooque Raza was the resident of Lahore and came to Islamabad

and stayed in room No 225 at about 5pm on Thursday. The SHO said that wife of Raza tried to contact him on his mobile phone on Friday morning but got no response, adding that she contacted Asim Ramday, son of Justice Khalil-ur-Rehman Ramday, who reached the hotel, along with Assistant Advocate General of the Punjab Rashid Hafeez and managed to open the door and found Raza lying dead on his bed.

Hakam Khan said Raza was a heart patient. He said the police had taken remains of the deceased into custody, along with the recording of the CCTV camera.Meanwhile, a spokesman for the PIMS, Dr Waseem Khawaja, citing preliminary medico-legal report, said heart failure was the cause of his death. However, he said visceral of the body had been sent for chemical examination to confirm the cause of death.Farooque Raza was about 41-year-old and working in the Royal Bank of Scotland as senior officer.

APP adds: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani expressed his heartfelt condolence over the sad demise of Raza Farooque. The prime minister spoke to Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and also condoled with Justice Khalil-ur-Rehman Ramday on telephone on the sad demise of his elder brother’s son.

The prime minister directed his military secretary to arrange a special helicopter to transport the body to his hometown for burial. In his condolence message to the bereaved family, the prime minister prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the family to bear this loss with equanimity.
